90s Child

For my birthday my mum hunted down some Levi's for me so that I could cut them down for Summer, but after trying on her wonderful bargain find of only £5 I kinda didn't want to cut them up any more. They are pretty darn cute for this season's 90s vibes and will look freat with a pair of heels as well as a pair of white plimsolls for chilly Summer strolls.

ALL of my family are such bargain hunters and this Plimoth vintage jumper was a find of my sisters, but of course I've temporarily stolen it as it's a great addition to my handbag for the last minute layering we've been experiencing with the British weather.
This outfit needed some jazzing up so I added the fluoro accents, the Barry M nail varnish really packs a punch. I'm so sorry that I can't remember the exact colour, but it looks like a dirty limey colour in the bottle but over a layer of white nail varnish looks amazing!

Saint Laurent Girl

The amazing punk-themed MET ball this week got me thinking about Saint Laurent's shock AW13 Paris show again, I adored every second of the catwalk. Not only was it full of attitude and all things grunge, but really spoke out to us 'normal' girls who can't afford a whole designer outfit without having to rob a bank. Hedi Slimane controversially pushed the 90s bar, which we have been seeing on the streets for a few seasons now, onto the catwalks of the fashion capital. The creative director seemed to be promoting our generation of style rather than his collection, quite literally stomping a statement. LOVE IT. It's actually possible to imitate some of the very looks with thrift and highstreet buys, as you can see I've already been having a play with my own wardrobe.

I'm so, so chuffed with this shirt I found in Paris back in January for only 5 euros! Yes, Saint Laurent gets me all excited about wearing this in the Autumn but I'm looking forward to Summer with this red beauty too. It's quite thick so doubles up as a jacket, will look great with some cut-offs and it really does add some oomph to an all-black outfit like so. I think it's also going to be my festival staple for a few messy weekends too. Shall I stop getting excited about a shirt now? It's a bit strange right.

Oversized Tartan.

Hello there, I'm heading back home again today for a weekend of celebrations (with essays and sketch book work squeezed in at every opportunity), my beaut of a sister turned 18 yesterday and my boyfriend's mum is having a shindig for her birthday Saturday, plus I'm hoping to have some tea and cake with my Nan who turned 78 this week later on. January is definitely turning out to be a jam packed month, with uni deadlines making it even more hectic; but I can't complain because busy is how I like it, you feel much happier when you have plans all over the place right?
Anywho, here is my 5 euro bargain from Paris, the ultimate comfy shirt that pack's a punch with the bright tartan print, perfect for my train journey home this afternoon.

This is the first time my gorgeous winter coat has starred in a post too, a bargain in the Debenhams sale at £20 which isn't too shabby huh? The detachable fur collar is what sold it to me, as the masculine shape looks great without it too and is so easy to throw on last minute to keep warm, think this coat will share a few winters with me for sure.
Hope you are all well and January isn't too blue.

Pleated Play.

As promised a new outfit post for you guys, featuring some of my favourite new buys this week including a gorgeous pleated midi thrifty find and a oversized grey tee from Toppers. The basic collection in Topshop at the moment is amazeballs, there is so much choice of staple wardrobe pieces such as midi body con skirts to sweaters; all of which I adore as the styling options are endless. These plain t-shirts are definitely hitting the spot for me at the moment, need to add more to my wardrobe asap plus some glorious jewellery .On that note, can anybody send me in the right direction of some eye-catching statement necklaces, I've been searching for what seems like forever for THE perfect one and alas, I'm still yet to.

I'm also loving bright nail varnish again at the moment, think I'm lusting after Summer sun a little too much haha. I couldn't decide between the two colours so painted each hand different...odd I know, but it did add a pop to this grey outfit. Note the cute western ankle boots, Jack got these for me as a surprise for Christmas and was so proud of himself for picking something so out of the blue that I fell in love with straight away haha, boy did well don't you think?

Hope you're all dandy and fending off the horrid bugs going round at the moment, I'm trying my best with copious amounts of green tea. Take care.

Futuristic Prep.

My trip home this weekend consisted of drinks with the family, Christmas tree decorating and two amazingly scrummy, hearty meals. It was so lovely to be back at home with my parents and sisters, it's such a rarity nowadays that even hearing the bickering and moaning was slightly heart-warming, however strange it may sound.

This was basically the outfit of the weekend due to my poor packing/ organisational skills, let's just say raiding the boyfriend's wardrobe is fast becoming a regular occurrence, much to his joy haha.
I'm off to drool over all the scrummy baked goods up on pinterest, starting to see where the addiction comes from now.

Double Laze.

Wednesdays are officially my lazy day; I have the day off uni for 'self-directed' study and do not creep out from under my duvet until afternoon hours. Not much gets done, and I barely leave the house...part of me is ashamed but part of me says it's okay. It's okay because I'm a very poor student who needs to lock herself away from any spending temptations. It's okay because the day can be spent pretending to get through the mountain of uni work piling up. It's okay because it's cold and miserable outside. Does anybody else get my drift? One day a week is allowed right?
All these reasons were verified today when I did in fact leave the house *shock horror* to apply for some voluntary work in town. Yes I fell victim to temptations, no I didn't even come close to completing any work and did you see the weather today?!

Double denim anyone? It's a bit hit and miss, but I wasn't taking myself too seriously this afternoon and really wanted to wear my beloved men's shirt, plus it's a nod to the western trend that's hovering about. I've seen a lot of amazing Isabel Marant-esque boots and shirts on the high street, love this subtle cowgirl revival; have you girls been influenced yet?

I'm off to read fashion magazines for uni research...not too shabby tehe.

A Walk in the Woods.

Today was just about a perfect Sunday with Jack, exactly what I needed before coming back to university. After an extra long lay in we had a little ramble in the woods, which I think is always so picturesque in the Autumn. We used to go here quite often when we first started out and although he claims we are way before our time (the only other people we bumped into were way over 50 haha) it's just lovely to find the time to do the simplest of things together.

Once we got back we had a lazy nap before a game of scrabble and roast dinner, topped off with possibly the greatest Christmas film ever..Home Alone. Now I'm back at uni writing this post and already missing the boy, a bit loser-ish I know haha.

Hope you all had lovely Sundays too, I'm already looking forward to the next weekend so I can see the family and celebrate my baby sister's fifteenth birthday with her. That said, I'm not quite wishing this week away, enjoy yours!
